Who would have thought that a movie about stocks would have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end? I saw the trailer and was like, “aw, cool, a movie about sticking it to the man”. And well, it is that, but it’s also really well made. Specifically, the pacing was really on point, while the acting was par or better across the board. And the soundtrack was just fun and connected to the content.
As far as the story, I feel like maybe I’m getting a unique perspective since I had my head in the sand while this was happening thanks to graduate school. So, all of the facts of this real situation were unknown to me other than the basic gist of what happened. This kept me hooked on what would happen next. Dumb Money was so enthralling.
It’s from the perspective of the common person, which is where I land on the spectrum. So, I felt connected to all of those people in the story. There was a strong sense of community and us versus them that had me so riled up, I was screaming “Viva la Revolution” by the end of the movie. There is definitely some social commentary here and enough to piss some people off. If you have not seen this, I rate this a must see.
